Key Findings Show Strategy of Agression

I just glanced over the report of the Iraq Security Group's Key Finding's Report. It very clearly shows that Saddam was definitely a threat. There were two courses of action that could have taken place in 2003 with regards to UNMOVIC and Iraq. The first course of action would have been continued weapons inspections. After having failed to find any weapons, international pressure to lift sanctions on Iraq would have continued to increase , making military intervention of any kind more difficult. The report shows that Iraq was working to pressure China, Russia and France (three permanent members of UNSC).

The second course of action is the one that was taken. With the former, it is clear that Saddam's intention was to rebuild the programs and pursue militarily agressive strategies against the US, Israel and particularly Iran. Given the course of Saddam's covert economic recovery under the OFF and rampant illicit assistance on the part of Russia, France, Syria, UAE, and numerous others, his entire special weapons military structure would have been back to pre-1991 levels.
